STEPHEN MARKUSON, Stage Director
In addition to his reputation as an opera,
oratorio, concert and recital performer,
Mr. Markuson is a recognized vocal
technician, stage director and music
historian. He is presently devoting
considerable attention to directing opera
and musical theatre, often creating his
own translations or adaptations of
chamber works suitable for smaller
professional ensembles.
Markuson holds a DMA in performance
and literature from the Eastman School of
Music. His directing repertoire includes
Amahl and the Night Visitors, Die
Fledermaus, Die Zauberflöte, Don Carlo, Il
Barbiere di Siviglia, La Cenerentola and
The Consul among other opera
productions while Closer Than Ever, City
of Angels, Dames at Sea, Jesus Christ
Superstar, Little Shop of Horrors and
Nunsense are just a few of his Musical
Theater directing credits.
