PENNSYLVANIA LYRIC OPERA THEATER

Bringing forty years of experience in the performing arts to the table as professional
opera singer, voice teacher and stage director, Garry Grice is the artistic director and
founder of Pennsylvania Lyric Opera Theater. He has sung over 50 leading operatic
tenor roles in such distinguished houses as New York City Opera, Milwaukeee Florentine,
The Bavarian State Opera among many others in the US, Canada and German speaking
Europe.
During the 90's, Mr. Grice created Indiana Opera North, the company which launched the
careers of several singers, currently performing around the world. Upon relocating to
northeastern PA, he again began to lay the groundwork for a professional opera
company in the Poconos. He produced and directed three very successful professional
productions in conjunction with the Shawnee Playhouse, Cosi fan tutte, La Boheme and
The Marriage of Figaro.
Then, in 2006, he created a summer young artist program and created the name
Pennsylvania Lyric Opera Theater. This program produced Gilbert and Sullivan's
Gondoliers, Die Fledermaus and The Mikado. In August they will remount Die
Fledermaus in our new venue. This program is open to all undergraduate and graduate
age singers and has received rave reviews.
This season, will mark the beginning of the professional arm of PLOT. Using
professional artists located in the Poconos and nearby states, PLOT will serve both
western and eastern Pocono Mountains with performances in East Stroudsburg at the
new state of the art auditorium of Notre Dame High School, and in Luzerne county at the
hall the Grices have restored in their home, a nineteenth century Victorian bar.
This season will include Magic Flute sung in English in November, Opera is for Lovers
concert in Mar., La Boheme in June, the young artist production in August and a gala
concert Nov. 6 & 7 at the Shawnee Playhouse (Shawnee on Delaware).
