| CAROLYN BARBER Private lessons Piano and art available in her home in Nanticoke and in Music Box Studios, route 611, between Bartonsville and Tannersville. A recent graduate of Bloomsburg University, Carolyn Barber has been playing the piano for almost twenty years. She has won awards in area competitions in both Pennsylvania and Indiana, where she grew up. Carolyn is a well rounded musician having played flute in the marching band, is currently learning to play the cello and has sung leading roles in local operettas as a lyric mezzo. Carolyn teaches a traditional, sound technique and enjoys teaching beginners of all ages. She believes in making the studio a safe place where the student is allowed to make mistakes without fear. The student is taken to the next level with kind and constructive teaching. Students will have a chance to study from a lesson book, a theory book and also supplemental music during the year, such as at the holidays. Students will also have opportunities to participate in recitals. As an art student of the Colley Art Studio in Weatherly, Carolyn's portfolio was accepted at both Bloomsburg University and Kutztown University. Before college, she studied privately at Makielski Art in Mishawaka Indiana and with Stephen Colley In Weatherly. Carolyn is available for a variety of classes, which she can teach privately or in groups. These may include, portrait, landscape and still life. Carolyn is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Museum Studies through the Unversity of Oklahoma. |
